Maybelline Fit Me Shades: How the Numbers Work

Published 27 October 2026 · Foundation Shades

To find your Fit Me foundation shade, pick two or three shades near your depth and test them on your jaw in daylight. The number helps you narrow it down, within limits. In our data, Fit Me numbers mostly get deeper as they rise, but 220 Natural Beige is lighter than 130 Buff Beige.

What Maybelline says about Fit Me shades

Maybelline describes Fit Me Matte + Poreless as coming in 40 shades, from very light to deep, with warm, neutral and cool options. It doesn’t explain what the numbers mean on the product page or in its shade-finding guide.

Its own finding advice is to swatch along the jawline and choose the shade that blends in best. Maybelline’s online shade finder asks for a selfie. If you skip the photo, it asks about the colour of your veins. Then you pick one of three faces and choose a coverage and finish.

How the numbers behave in our data

Fit Me Matte + Poreless shades are numbered in three groups: the 100s, 200s and 300s. Here is the depth of the first and last shade in each group, as a share of the 6,727 shades in our data:

GroupFirst shadeLast shade
100s102 Fair Porcelain: among the very lightest130 Buff Beige: lighter than 72%
200s220 Natural Beige: lighter than 82%245 Classic Beige: lighter than 38%
300s310 Sun Beige: lighter than 63%380 Espresso: lighter than 3%

Two things follow. Within each group, shades mostly deepen as the number rises, with a few out of order: 124 Soft Sand reads lighter than 122 Creamy Beige. And the groups overlap, so a 200s shade can be lighter than a 100s shade, and 310 is lighter than 245.

So don’t move from 130 to 220 expecting the next shade deeper. Check the depth on each shade page before you jump between groups.

These colours come from retailer swatches in January 2021. Swatches vary, so a small gap between two shades may not show on skin.

Undertone in Fit Me names

Fit Me numbers carry no undertone letter. Seven Fit Me Matte + Poreless shades are listed warm in our data, and each name says Warm or Golden. They are 128 Warm Nude, 312 Golden, 322 Warm Honey, 332 Golden Caramel, 334 Warm Sun, 356 Warm Coconut and 368 Deep Golden. The other 33 have no listed undertone.

The same name in a different Fit Me formula

A shade name doesn’t carry over between Fit Me formulas. In our data, 105 Fair Ivory in Fit Me Matte + Poreless is among the very lightest shades. Fair Ivory in Fit Me Dewy + Smooth is lighter than 77%, much deeper.

If you switch formulas, look up your shade in the shade finder instead of buying the same name.

Questions

Is there a Fit Me shade finder that uses a photo?

Maybelline’s own shade finder works from a selfie taken on your phone, or from a few questions if you skip it. Ours works from a shade you already wear, in any brand, and needs no photo.

Is there a Maybelline foundation shade chart?

The table above shows how Fit Me’s numbers spread across depth. Each Fit Me shade page on this site gives that shade’s depth in our data. Our guide to testing a foundation match at home shows how to choose between two.
